The Russia-China duo redefine the global balance

The Russia-China duo redefine the global balance

In recent months, and especially in recent weeks, China has made it clear that it stands firmly behind Russia in the event of an escalation.

In just a few meetings over the past three months, cooperation between China and Russia has significantly accelerated.

China has declared its readiness to support Russia at all costs and has multiplied official statements confirming its support for Russia.

China’s new Minister of Defense, Dong Jun, during his meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, declared:

“We will support you on the Ukrainian issue, even if the United States and Europe continue to pressure China, even if military cooperation between China and the EU has suffered.”

On the economic front:

China’s support for Russia has been most evident through a significant increase in trade between the two countries, reaching 240 billion dollars in 2023, a 26.3% rise compared to the previous year.

On the military front:

China and Russia have conducted an increasing number of joint military exercises in recent months, notably alongside Iran to complete the trio.

In March, notably, the “Maritime Security Belt 2024” exercises began on a Tuesday, involving more than 20 vessels — including support ships, combat boats, and naval helicopters — from all three countries.

And of course, the United States is growing increasingly alarmed by this alliance, which strengthens month after month. Antony Blinken has stated that he is concerned about China’s growing support for Russia.

Chinese support that ensures a long-term balance of power

China’s support for Russia is crucial to maintaining balance in the multipolar world, as diplomats, economists, and heads of state now fully recognize that China is on track to become the world’s largest economy by 2035.

A report from the Institute of Financial Studies at Renmin University of China was recently published, detailing China’s projected economic development over the next ten years.

Indian, Canadian, Chinese, Russian, and American researchers who worked on this report emphasize that China’s economic growth is outpacing that of the United States, with the yuan continuing to strengthen as its level of internationalization progresses.

“If China maintains GDP growth of around 5% per year over the coming years, or at least 4% by 2035, China is expected to surpass the United States to become the world’s largest economy by 2035.”

“Emerging countries will be the main driving force of global economic growth in the future, as their rapid expansion could double global GDP over the coming decade,” the study adds.

Russia thus has, as its greatest ally, the future leading world power, a solid promise for the future and a clear sign of security and stability in the years to come.

«I believe that under President Putin’s strong leadership, the Russian people will have a bright future.»

The Russo-Chinese duo destabilizes the Americans

This alliance, which obviously irritates the US and NATO, both in decline, is provoking growing concern in Washington.

The Americans have even complained to their allies (with little effect) that China is increasing its support for Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine.

China has recently provided Russia with military-grade satellite imagery, miniature electronic components, various instruments, optics, rocket fuel, drone and missile technologies, manufacturing machinery, and expanded cooperation in the space sector.

US intelligence recently stated:

« Trade between China and Russia has increased since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, and exports of products potentially usable for military purposes from China have more than tripled since 2022.»

In response to this American agitation, China put the United States back in its place, calling on Washington not to interfere in Sino-Russian trade relations.

“Trade between China and Russia should not be subject to interference or restrictions. We urge the US side to refrain from undermining the good relations between China and Russia and to stop looking for a scapegoat.”

China's superpower status overshadows the US

China has also been multiplying statements making it clear that it has a very different mindset from the American hegemonic mentality, and that its multipolar vision of the world is vastly different from what the United States has accustomed us to.

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently stated that China cannot follow the path of Western modernization, which “involves stealing from other countries.”

He points out that Chinese modernization “is fundamentally different from Western modernization.”

“China cannot follow the path of Western modernization, which is characterized by polarization and the plundering of other countries.”

“China's modernization,” Xi Jinping said, “is based on China's own realities, in line with its national conditions and with clear goals, plans, and strategies.”

The United States is waking up to China's growing power

Powerless in the face of the close cooperation between the two giants, China and Russia, the United States is preparing its military for a potential conflict with China.

With its new Force Design 2030 strategy, the US is preparing the Marine Corps for conflict with China in the coming years.

As part of its new strategy, the US Marine Corps aims to prevent the Chinese military from occupying, in the event of a conflict, the front line of islands stretching from Indonesia to Japan that separates China from the Pacific Ocean.

“The role of the US forces will be to hold back the Chinese navy and air force and prevent us from deploying our troops while we wait for the main US forces, its air groups and navy, to arrive from afar and enter the fray,” says a Chinese analyst.

In this new strategy, the US military is readjusting the message and training given to its troops, which now includes indications that the US military believes it will have to fight an equally matched rival.

“Americans are no longer very confident. They feel that the sea no longer belongs to them and that they will not be able to monopolize it,” said Wu Wei, a Chinese analyst.

This is a first for Americans, who are beginning to understand that they are no longer the masters of the world, and it feels very strange to them.

The American media also confirm these American plans to prepare for a possible conflict with China, such as the Washington Post, which published a report on March 29 on the exercises of the Third Regiment of the United States Marine Corps, clearly indicating that the American military was preparing for a possible conflict with China in the Asia-Pacific region.

The United States' attention monopolized by China

If such a conflict were to arise, the United States would have to devote 100% of its troops to dealing with China alone.

We are not even taking into account the potential support of Iran or Russia for China, which would completely tip the balance.

In such a context, European governments, which naively expect NATO assistance in the event of conflict, are brought back to reality.

Europe must abandon the idea that the United States will always come to the rescue in the event of a military threat,” said Armin Papperger, chairman of the board of the defense company Rheinmetall AG, in an interview with the Financial Times.

“Over the past few decades, European leaders have taken it for granted that the United States would come to the continent's rescue in the event of a military threat, but that will not happen.”

Armin Papperger

He explained that the blocking of additional aid to Ukraine by US lawmakers is a signal to Europe that Washington “will no longer pay for this.”

According to Mr. Papperger, the United States is currently concentrating its forces in the Asia-Pacific region and, in the event of a large-scale armed conflict, “the United States will focus on Asia and Europe will be left completely on its own.”

The message is therefore very clear: Uncle Sam will not come to Europe's aid in the event of conflict, as he will be overwhelmed by Chinese power himself.

If Russia, Iran, or an alliance of the two or even other allied countries were to enter into conflict against Europe alone and left to its own devices, the latter would be literally crushed in a very short time.

The United States and Europe are experiencing their final years of hegemony.

Right now, in 2024 and in the years to come, we are witnessing a total shift in the balance of power towards a multipolar world.

A recent visit that further strengthens Russian-Chinese cooperation

A few days ago, Sergey Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited China to further strengthen Russian-Chinese cooperation and take it to the next level.

During this meeting, he stated:

Our strategic partnership is based on the principles of respectful, equal, and trusting dialogue, as well as mutual support on issues affecting the fundamental interests of both countries.

This recent meeting covered a wide range of topics, including trade, military, and diplomatic relations, as well as cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

The Russia–China duo has become so powerful that it can now directly confront the United States and challenge its maritime territorial claims.

China and Russia have therefore challenged US claims to part of the seabed rich in natural resources.

Indeed, Washington has not ratified a treaty governing access to resources in international waters.

Chinese and Russian diplomats stated a few weeks ago that US claims to expanded seabed areas were unacceptable, putting a brake on US advances.

One of Lavrov's statements during his visit to China perfectly concludes this week's series of publications on the Russian-Chinese alliance.

We are currently working, as you said, dear Minister, to create a more just multipolar world order, to develop inclusive and creative formats for cooperation, such as BRICS and the SCO, and we are making efforts to consolidate the countries of the Global South in order to ensure greater justice and equality in world affairs.
