The reaction is therefore logical, almost mechanical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To maintain ideological control over the next generations<\/strong>, governments must shift their focus, their pressure, and their legal arsenal toward social media and the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That is exactly what we are witnessing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n In recent years, control measures, censorship, and political actions aimed at silencing dissenting voices have surged dramatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And this trend is only just beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is not about protecting anyone, nor about defending a particular idea or taboo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is about regaining control of the narrative<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The more a state feels it is losing control over its population, the more it attempts to tighten that control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is a well-known historical pattern: when power starts to wobble, it turns authoritarian, even tyrannical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Recently, we have seen Western governments intensify pressure on digital platforms and messaging services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Arrests, searches, judicial intimidation, threats of sanctions \u2014 nothing is off the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The correlation is clear: internal political loss of control = authoritarian tightening<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The countries where governments are politically the most fragile are precisely those where attacks on freedom of expression are the most aggressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n France is a striking example. The country is facing severe economic strain and deep structural decline, which, as you now understand, only reinforces authoritarian tendencies within the government. La majorit\u00e9 des grandes plateformes \u00e9tant occidentales, elles repr\u00e9sentent, \u00e0 leurs yeux, un double risque : d\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9 la captation des donn\u00e9es \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle, de l\u2019autre une capacit\u00e9 d\u2019ing\u00e9rence informationnelle pouvant servir des objectifs g\u00e9opolitiques.
